NYC Catskill-Delaware UV Facility Opening Ceremony

Today – October 8th, 2013, marked the opening of the NYC Catskill-Delaware UV Disinfection facility which will treat 2.24 billion gallons a day (BGD) of water. This is the largest drinking water UV installation in the world, and it uses TrojanUV technology.

Pictured here are TrojanUV staff Mark Peck, North American PMO Manager and Linda Gowman, Chief Technology Officer with NYC Deputy Mayor Cas Holloway (center).

The Facility
In 2005, Trojan Technologies was selected as the manufacturer for the UV portion of NYC drinking water project. In 2009 and 2010, Trojan delivered 56 TrojanUVTorrent™ UV units to the Catskill/Delaware UV Facility. Each unit is capable of delivering a 40 mJ/cm 2 dose to 40 million gallons of water per day (MGD).

This disinfection requirement, set by the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, delivers greater than 3-log reduction of microorganisms such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia. The TrojanUVTorrent™ was custom-designed by Trojan’s engineers and scientists in order to meet the challenging design parameters of this unique project.

The Catskill/Delaware UV Facility is located in Valhalla, New York. The treatment train consists of screening, UV treatment, and chlorination (for a residual disinfectant in the distribution system).

Trojan Technologies Launches Corporate Brand

LONDON, ONTARIO – October 1, 2013 – Today Trojan Technologies launched a new corporate brand, evoking a clear identity while also redefining an organization that has evolved into more than an ultraviolet (UV) technology company.

“We have grown to become seven businesses, with a portfolio of technologies that are eco-efficient and enable our customers to reduce and recover costs, energy, resources and space while meeting their water quality objectives. We look very different today than we did 35 years ago,” says Marv DeVries, president, Trojan Technologies. “We continue to work with our customers to provide significantly improved ways to meet water quality objectives. We are dedicated to improving conventional water treatment.”

Trojan Technologies encompasses seven businesses:

UV disinfection and UV-oxidation systems for municipal water and wastewater treatment

Aquafine Corporation
UV disinfection systems for industrial and commercial water and wastewater treatment

Cell lysis technology for biosolids reduction and increasing biogas production

Salsnes Filter
Solids separation for municipal, commercial and industrial wastewater

Trojan Marinex
Filtration + UV treatment systems for ballast water

US Peroxide
Environmental hydrogen peroxide-based treatment programs to purify water, wastewater, soil and air

UV disinfection systems for homes and businesses

The new corporate brand builds on the strength and longevity of the Trojan name and validates using Trojan Technologies as the corporate brand name. They have retained the TrojanUV brand for the municipal UV business.

“Our collective technologies are designed to be low-risk, innovative ways to improve on conventional treatment processes. Today’s world is one where reducing our carbon footprint and the total cost of ownership are defining objectives,” says DeVries. “We are committed to building water confidence and improving the lives of as many people as possible.”

The precisely-engineered symbol is meant to represent Trojan Technologies’ foundation in science and innovative design, with a goal of providing collaborative, complete and integrated solutions to customers.  The color combination is a nod to their “red” history in a blue industry and the typography is clean with a focus on the name “Trojan.”
