Trojan Marinex – Upcoming Ballast Water Summits

Associates from our ballast water treatment business, Trojan Marinex, will be speaking and participating at two upcoming Ballast Water Management conferences.

Ballast Water Summit 2014 – Hamburg, February 25 & 26

Hosted by Fathom and BIMCO, the Ballast Water Summit is taking place in Hamburg, Germany. It will give vessel owners the opportunity to discuss, learn and understand the best strategies, solutions and issues concerning implementing Ballast Water Management Systems within their operations and adhering to compliance.

Michael Leach, Trojan Marinex Commercial Manager, will be speaking on February 25 about the path to US Coast Guard Type Approval. . Trojan Marinex is an event sponsor and is also exhibiting at Stand 4.

Taking in Long Beach, California, the Ballast Water Managment Summit brings together ship owners & operators, regulators, water treatment specialists & suppliers, port authorities, shipping associations and others – to exchange information and strategize cost-effective, practical solutions for compliance, now and going forward.

Jim Cosman, Trojan Marinex Market Manager, will speak on Tuesday, February 25. during his presentation, titled: Innovative Ballast Water Management System and Type Approval Approach – he will provide insight into the robust Trojan Marinex Ballast Water Treatment (BWT) system and their robust Type Approval process.

Lorne Park Water Treatment Plant – 2013 Project of the Year

The Ontario Public Works Association (OPWA) has named the Lorne Park Water Treatment Plant 2013 Project of the Year.

TrojanUV, our municipal business, supplied the UV systems for the project, and associates were honored to be in attendance when award was presented to the Region of Peel at the OPWA Annual Conference & Awards Luncheon on January 30, 2014 in Mississauga, Ontario.

TrojanUV was selected to supply both UV portions of the Lorne Park Water Treatment Plant upgrade. For the conventional treatment train, the TrojanUVSwift™ was selected to provide disinfection. For the membrane treatment train, the TrojanUVSwift™ECT was selected to not only eliminate chlorine-resistant protozoa but to also destroy seasonal taste & odor-causing compounds.

The Lorne Park Water Treatment Plant is the largest retrofitted low-pressure municipal membrane filtration system in the world, and is home to the largest municipal UV-oxidation installation for taste and odor removal in North America. Congratulations to the Region of Peel and their partners for bringing the project to a successful conclusion!
