Water supplies that are corrosive (high acidity or low mineral content) can cause lead to leach from service pipes, home pipes, and well components. In homes, the most common problem occurs with brass or chrome-plated brass faucets and fixtures with lead solder.
Carbon filters can be of varying grades or compositions and will therefore not always have lead removal capabilities. For effective lead removal, specialized carbon filtration, such as VIQUA offers, will be required.
