Key Features and Benefits

Seasonal Taste & Odor Treatment Mode

When seasonal contamination events occur, additional UV lamps or chambers are energized and hydrogen peroxide is dosed into the water upstream of the UV system. This initiates a powerful oxidation reaction that destroys contaminants and also increases the level of disinfection.

Optimized Dose Delivery

Sophisticated, patented control system optimizes the UV advanced oxidation process by controlling the dosing of hydrogen peroxide, lamp power and on/off status in real time. This minimizes operational costs while maintaining optimized UV energy distribution and hydrogen peroxide dosing.

Disinfection-only Mode

For times when seasonal taste & odor treatment is not necessary, the system’s high intensity, medium-pressure UV lamps operate at lower energy levels sufficient for elimination of chlorine-resistant Cryptosporidium and Giardia.

Compact, Hydraulically Efficient Chamber

Hydraulically efficient, flow-through design – developed through advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics modeling – minimizes head loss and pumping requirements. Full serviceability from one side of the chamber allows installation in restrictive pipe galleries and against walls.

ActiClean sleeve cleaning system

Automatic, Dual-action Lamp Sleeve Cleaning

The optional dual-action ActiClean® sleeve cleaning system uses a combination of mechanical wiping and an NSF 60-certified gel to provide unparalleled sleeve cleaning. Quartz sleeves and intensity sensors are cleaned automatically, without disrupting disinfection.

Customer Stories

Neshaminy Falls Water Treatment Plant case study

On-demand Taste & Odor Treatment

The Neshaminy Falls Water Treatment Plant used to utilize a powdered activated carbon (PAC) system for taste & odor issues, but the system was unable to provide sufficient removal of MIB and geosmin. Engineers working on a plant upgrade conducted a comparison of the capital and operation/maintenance costs for PAC and the TrojanUVSwiftECT.

Treating Micropollutants With UV in Drinking Water in the Netherlands

Like many water supplies throughout the world, IJssel Lake, the lake from which PWN Water Supply Company in North Holland extracts its water, can be impacted by industrial and agricultural activity. The threat of contamination from pesticides, herbicides, and other micropollutants such as endocrine disruptors and pharmaceuticals is a year-round concern.
