Advancing water treatment with UV LED innovation
Trojan Technologies has forged partnerships with top LED suppliers which grant us access to early prototypes and have allowed us to collaborate to advance LED technology based on customer application needs. While we have been monitoring the development of UV LED since 2010, in 2020, we began testing different UV LED lamps by installing them in our traditional UV systems and evaluating their performance.
Trojan has made substantial investments in advancing our UVC LED research and testing infrastructure. UVC LEDs are procured from all major global suppliers and undergo rigorous in-house evaluation within our dedicated test laboratories. Characterization and performance validation are conducted using advanced, purpose-built UVC measurement systems.
Trojan has developed robust testing protocols for UVC LED lamps and luminaires under both simulated and real-world operating conditions. Test samples include both bare board configurations and fully assembled units with integrated housings and optical windows, designed for compatibility with water reactor test environments.
In real-world simulations, UVC LED systems are evaluated using comprehensive Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and thermal modeling. A range of flow conditions and LED operating parameters are systematically tested to validate design assumptions and simulation accuracy.
