What's the benefit of updating an existing unit? We believe that our latest technology offers considerable improvements over our legacy systems.
Advanced Technology: OptiVenn® and Avant® systems utilize cutting-edge technology, ensuring a reliable supply, consistent quality, and comprehensive service and support.
Improved Capacity and Performance: Newer systems utilize advanced lamp technology, often achieving the same performance with fewer lamps, enhancing efficiency and system output.
Lower Operating Costs: With reduced lamp replacements and less frequent component maintenance, upgrading helps lower long-term operating expenses.
One significant barrier to replacing an existing UV system is the alignment of the existing piping and new reactor connections. Misalignment of the inlet and outlet (also known as center-to-center distance) can cause undesirable rerouting or piping, which can lead to recertification of the process, as well as additional downtime, timeline, and costs for the replacement project.
To better serve customers looking to replace legacy systems, we now offer OptiVenn models that are compatible with the center-to-center specifications of many popular Aquafine legacy product lines (CSL, RBE, Optima, Optima HX). This will allow you to streamline the UV replacement process, saving time and cost.
Reduced Downtime & Project Costs: Changes in the piping configuration in a facility will often lead to significantly longer project time, costs, and downtime.
No Regulatory Changes: Changes in the piping configuration in a facility can often have regulatory implications, resulting in recertification of process.
Increased Capacity: In many cases, newer UV models will yield opportunity for higher disinfection capacity and flow rate.
Long-Term Reliability: Over the years, components have become obsolete in the market and/or it no longer makes sense for us to support from a business perspective.
The OptiVenn series from Aquafine is a family of robust and flexible ultraviolet (UV) systems with advanced technology designed to meet the stringent requirements of pharmaceutical, food & beverage, microelectronics, and other industrial markets.
Features & Benefits
Compact & Efficient Operation:
OptiVenn systems use high efficiency lamps and ballast relative to legacy CSL and RBE systems, resulting in reduced power consumption, reduced number of lamps, and reduced lamp failures.
Lamp and ballast efficiency drives a more compact design and smaller footprint. Improved Monitoring Station:
User friendly interface that allows for at-a-glance check of health and status of the system.
Installation Flexibility:
Independent panel and chamber allow for easy mounting of panel on top, front, or on a wall close to the chamber.
Chamber can be rotated at 4 different angles to reduce re-piping/ installation costs.
Water can flow through the system through either inlet or outlet.
Other Key Benefits Include:
No need for cooling (A/C) for systems with 4 lamps or less, cost-effective solution to achieve higher rated system.
Baffle support system to avoid sleeves breakage.
Panel is accessible and easy to service compared to integral panels in legacy systems.

The Avant series incorporates the latest innovations in UV technology and best-in-class components to reduce the total cost of ownership and drastically simplify operation and maintenance. This highly advanced product line utilizes UV technology to break down trace chemicals such as total organic carbon (TOC), chlorine and chloramines, and ozone while also providing microbiological inactivation.
Features & Benefits
Energy and Cost Savings:
Avant only requires 37.5% of lamps or power compared to legacy SCD-H product line to meet the same performance level to reduce TOC levels below 2 ppb with significantly lower power consumption.*
Compact footprint:
40-60% fewer lamps, sleeves, drivers
Reduced installation costs and footprint impact.
HP model uses a special grade quartz sleeve and lamps that allows to significantly reduce the number of UV units, by up to 75%.
*When comparing SCD-H to Avant HP over 5-year cycle

With the advancement of UV technology and the introduction of new Aquafine systems, we regularly evaluate our product portfolio to ensure that we offer only our top-performing systems. As a result, we periodically make the decision to discontinue some older product lines.
System Obsolescence
In 2016, we discontinued production and sales for the following legacy products:
DW series
SP series
SL10A series*
RBE series
*Does not include CSL Plus, SCD-H, SCD-HX, SL1, MP2, or UVK X0000 Series
Important dates:
May 1, 2021: Only consumables such as lamps, sleeves, ballasts, wiper seals, fluids, and some sensors for the above systems will be stocked and available. A full list of parts is available through your Channel Partner.
December 1, 2026: The final date to place purchase orders for aftermarket parts for the systems listed below – if they were manufactured before 2000. A full list of parts is available through your Channel Partner.
Is Trojan Technologies ending all support for the CSL, RBE, and SCD series?
No, we'll keep supplying essential items like UV lamps, drivers, and quartz sleeves. However, due to technological shifts, supply instability, and rising costs, we'll gradually discontinue service for other parts. We encourage all CSL, RBE, and SCD customers to work with us on a transition plan to a new UV system to ensure continuity of operation. A list of the parts available is posted on our website or by contacting your Aquafine representative.
Why is Trojan discontinuing reliable Aquafine product lines?
Components for the CSL, RBE, and SCD series are increasingly difficult to obtain because they're based on aging technology and are not economical for suppliers to produce in small quantities. We suggest customers transition to our OptiVenn or Avant series of systems, which offer lasting value and can be support consistently.
Why isn’t Trojan selling off the shelf components?
As supporting old products becomes riskier and more costly, we're shifting our efforts to areas with clear customer benefits. We'll still offer technical support and assist with CSL, RBE, and SCD issues, but encourage you to begin planning to transition to a new UV system.
Who can I contact to help determine if my system will become obsolete and to help me replace my CSL, RBE, or SCD products?
Contact your local Aquafine sales representative or Aquafine application support at applications@aquafineuv.com to explore alternatives and arrange for your system upgrade. We are committed to helping you determine the right replacement option which will offering both continued product support and lasting operational advantages.
Simply fill out this form and let us know what you're looking for.
