This presentation demonstrated how proven UV technologies are helping utilities around the world expand water reuse opportunities, protect public health, and build more resilient water supplies for the future.
Kyriakos Manoli's presentation explored the fundamental principles of UV disinfection and UV advanced oxidation (UV AOP), highlighting the important role each technology plays in enabling safe and sustainable water reuse. He explained how UV disinfection has been used in non-potable water reuse applications, including agricultural irrigation and municipal reuse programs in regions such as the European Union, while UV AOP has been adopted in potable reuse projects across North America to help treat pathogens and chemical contaminants such as 1,4-dioxane and NDMA.
Drawing on Trojan Technologies' more than 30 years of experience in water reuse, the presentation showcased real-world full-scale examples of both UV disinfection and UV AOP systems. Kyriakos highlighted how communities around the world have implemented these proven technologies to address water scarcity, strengthen water security, and create sustainable new water supplies through both non-potable and potable reuse programs. He also demonstrated how Trojan solutions are helping municipalities collectively recycle significant volumes of wastewater every day while meeting increasingly stringent water quality requirements.
