UV Disinfection

Unlike chemical approaches to water disinfection, UV light provides rapid, effective inactivation of microorganisms through a physical process. When bacteria, viruses and protozoa are exposed to the germicidal wavelengths of UV light, they are rendered incapable of reproducing and infecting. It has demonstrated efficacy against pathogenic organisms, including those responsible for cholera, polio, typhoid, hepatitis and other bacterial, viral and parasitic diseases.

UV-oxidation

UV light, in combination with hydrogen peroxide, destroys contaminants. UV converts hydrogen peroxide into highly reactive hydroxyl radicals. These hydroxyl radicals oxidize contaminants, breaking the bonds between the molecules, and reducing the potentially harmful chemical to its safe, elemental components.

UV-photolysis

UV-photolysis is a photochemical reaction that takes place when a contaminant molecule absorbs UV light. The photons break down and disrupt the chemical bonds of the molecule, and reduce the potentially harmful chemical to its safe, elemental components.

Chlorine/Chloramines Destruction

Chemical addition involves the introduction of an added substance and is therefore undesirable. As an alternative to the use of chemicals and activated carbon beds, UV technology can be utilized to destroy chlorine/chloramine, thereby eliminating the need for chemical handling and bacteria breeding.

Filtration

In its simplest form, filtration separates solids from fluids by utilizing a medium through which only fluid can pass. However, custom-designing and refining the entire filtration process will maximize solids separation, while reducing operating costs, maintenance intervals and physical footprint.

Ozone Destruction

In specific water treatment applications, ozone is applied to the water stream to oxidize trace organics or to disinfect the piping and distribution system, but residual ozone is often left behind. Adding UV energy to ozone catalyzes it into harmless oxygen.

Peroxide Regenerated Iron Technology (PRI-TECH®)

PRI-TECH is a combination treatment that integrates iron salts with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in a unique and synergistic fashion, resulting in cost savings and treatment enhancement compared to traditional iron salt use.

Hydrogen Peroxide Regenerated Iron for Sulfide Control (PRI-SC®)

PRI-SC® is a combination treatment that integrates iron salts with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in a synergistic fashion.

PRI-DE® Digester Enhancement

When applied to primary settled solids (prior to thickening/digestion), the effect of the PRI technology is two-fold: 1) To remove dissolved sulfide that either contributes to immediate biogas H2S levels or provides a sink for Fe added subsequently; and 2) To remove total sulfide and so ‘free up’ the iron bound as FeS. That ‘freed up’ Fe is then available to control H2S production and/or struvite scaling within the digester.

PRI-CEPT® Phosphorus Control

When applied to plant influents, hydrogen peroxide destroys dissolved and/or total sulfide that otherwise scavenges Fe3+ added for CEPT and/or chemical phosphorus removal.

TOC Reduction

Utilizing UV light in an 185nm wavelength enables the formation of free radicals, leading to the oxidation of organics into CO2 and H2O.

Vapor Fogging

The vapor fogging process consists of two chemical storage/feed modules, a solution make-up tank, and a fogging apparatus. The underlying principle is absorption of gaseous H2S into an alkaline water solution, with concurrent oxidation of the absorbed H2S.
